How To Apply Positive Thinking
Overcoming Failure with Positive Thinking
Whether you realize it or not, you will face some failures or setbacks in life, but a healthy dose of positive thinking and positive attitude can help you overcome failure quickly and easily.Everyone faces challenges; it’s just part of life. What do you do when they come? Do you spiral downward into depression? Do you get angry or frustrated and carry around all those negative thoughts and emotions? Have you given up on your dreams because of setbacks or failures?
Setbacks or failures are opportunities to grow. They’re opportunities to apply positive thinking and find out what you’re really made of. As you develop the positive thinking you develop a positive attitude that will help you in the future.
The difference between highly successful people and unsuccessful people is that the winners choose to learn from setbacks and keep a positive thinking perspective and maintain a positive attitude throughout their journey.
Positive thinking can become a habit
I want you to begin thinking about what you will do the next time you face a setback or a failure.
See, a failure is really not a failure. There’s no such thing as failure.
Just because you didn’t accomplish what you set out to do or the project didn’t go as planned does not mean you failed. It simply means you tried, learned some things along the way, and the desired effect didn’t come…yet.
Thomas Edison tried to make the light bulb thousands of times. Some would say he failed every time that bulb didn’t light up, but he didn’t look at it as failure; he looked at it as a learning experience and finally he did succeed! He didn’t keep a negative attitude and think “Oh no, I’ll never be able to create this thing to work.” No, he engaged in positive thinking and said, “Oh yes! I will get this thing to work!”
Positive thinking can become a habit. If you will get it in your head that no matter what you encounter, you will display a positive thinking attitude, you will continue to be successful and perhaps even very happy!
Persistence pays off
I know of an author who had the dream of publishing a book. She began freelance writing and did that for a few years while learning about the publishing industry. When she sent out her book proposal to numerous agents, she began receiving rejection letter after rejection letter.
She could have looked at this as a failure. After all, rejection is tough on anyone. But she didn’t give up and she didn’t look at the rejections as failures. She decided before she even sent that first proposal out that she would engage in positive thinking no matter what happened. She held firm that she would find an agent to give her book a chance; even if it took 1000 proposals.
One year later she got her break. After 86 rejections, revisions, and positive thinking, she landed her book deal! How’s that for persistence and payoff?
Positive thinking is powerful. You can overcome failure or setbacks by changing your perspective and persisting in your endeavors. Dream big and keep moving forward no matter what!
